FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease) is a complex of diseases that occurs frequently in domestic cats and includes disorders of the lower urogenital tract. In addition to various kidney and bladder disorders, these include the formation of struvite and oxalate stones. The disorders mentioned can be genetic or triggered by an electrolyte imbalance (due to insufficient drinking). Cats that are fed a diet based on dry food and/or older cats are particularly affected. The innovative product Felurit® encourages cats to drink by combining sodium with an adequate amount of potassium, thereby achieving a rinsing effect in the kidneys without the use of diuretic (=water-draining/diuretic) substances. Felurit® thus ensures that the cat remains hydrated and does not dehydrate. The cranberry concentrate contained in the product stabilises the pH value in the urine by slightly acidifying it, which means that methionine can be completely avoided. By avoiding methionine, the urine cannot become too acidic, which reduces the risk of stone formation. Methionine can cause changes in the red blood cells of cats and should therefore not be given in large quantities to cats with existing kidney, liver or pancreas problems. Felurit® can be given in addition to normal food and also in addition to special/diet food (e.g. Urinary / Struvite).

HOW TO FEED NUTRILABS

Feeding recommendation

It is recommended that the product be fed for at least 8 weeks – and for a longer period if necessary: this should be decided individually based on the animal’s reaction.

Glucosamine and chondroitin: ensure the formation of new and more stable structures of the bladder epithelium
Cranberry: stabilises the pH value in urine by slightly acidifying it
Rhemannia: strengthens the bladder and kidneys
D-mannose: is a sugar compound that binds bacteria and excretes them via the kidneys
Sodium and potassium: salts that stimulate water absorption and thus favour water release in a natural way (favours the flushing effect)
Vanillin: starke antioxidative Wirkung
Omega fatty acids: inhibit the precursors of inflammation and reduce the risk of bladder and kidney stones. They also support mild regeneration of the kidneys (it is important to ensure the correct ratio of omega fatty acids: Ω3 : Ω6 Ω9 = 3:1).
Prebiotics: for the gastrointestinal tract, a healthy intestinal flora stabilises the mucous membranes and supports the integrity of the mucous membranes throughout the body (all mucous membranes are connected like a single organ)
Vitamins B₁ + B₆:
- B₁: Control of bladder voiding
- B₆: favours the reduction of stone formation (oxalate and struvite stones)
Winter cherry: has a calming effect on cats, because affected cats are often stressed.
